The Cornwall Pass - the discount card for cornwall. Save money all over cornwall

The Cornwall Pass Participating Businesses - Discount guidelines page.

Discount levels.

The choice and levels of discount and what you offer them on is entirely up to you. The only element we stipulate is that you offer a minimum of 10% off your core business activity. This is to act as an incentive to a Pass holder to visit your business. Discounts less than 10% will not attract people.

Many of our participating businesses are offering discounts of 15% - 25% and other offers, therefore, the way to look at the discount side is to think about discounting one aspect of your offering to attract customers into your business which will encourage them to spend more.

The Cornwall Pass covers up to 5 people.

When you are thinking of what discounts to offer it is important to remember that the Cornwall Pass covers up to 5 people so although you are offering a discount and therefore making a slight loss on what the customer would usually spend, it is quite likely you will attract a greater number of customers and in a larger group who may well spend more because they can obtain a discount so whilst you may be losing a small percentage, the Cornwall Pass has the ability to generate more income for you.

Your existing and own special promotions.

Periodically you may run your own discounts and special promotions and we advise Pass purchasers that the discount you offer to them may not necessarily run in association with any special promotions you are also running, however, you can provide the additional Cornwall Pass discount to your own promotion if you want to.

Discount guidelines.

The following information is designed to act as a guideline as to the levels and types of discounts you might want to offer and these are broken down into business types. You can also check all the other participating business to see what they are offering.

Restaurants and dining establishments.

If you are a restaurant or provide food, you can offer a 10% ( or more ) discount off the total bill either including or excluding drinks. In general terms most people will order some wine with their meals so logically it makes sense to include all drinks ordered with the meal.

If you are a public house, you might want to only offer the discount on the drinks ordered with a meal and exclude all pre-dining drinks ordered and if you are a Cafe - Bar you might want to just offer the discount on your food and not the drinks, etc. If you are a takeaway food supplier you could set the discount on specific items or to trigger over a specific customer spend for example which may encourage your customers to spend more.

Attractions.

If you are an attraction, there are a large number of options. For example, your discount can be on the entry price for individuals and maybe a higher discount for a family ticket, or you could set it so that children below 16, etc, get free entry. If you provide rides or other activities, you could also provide an additional discount on each ride and/or a discount on any meals purchased at your venue.

Hotels and accommodation.

If you are a hotel or an accommodation business, you can provide a discount on the cost of a nights stay or week, etc and if your provide dining, also the cost of a meal as with the restaurants above. In addition if you provide Spa or leisure facilities you can offer a discount on those, if usually sold as separate packages, as you desire. You may also want to offer a discount if you provide excursion or sporting activities as well such as Golf or other items. You can also offer it on specific breaks such as long weekends, i.e. Friday to Monday and on special occasions, etc.

Holiday Parks and touring/camping facilities.

The Cornwall Pass is a good way of attracting new customers because the cost of a weeks accommodation can be quite high, therefore, we would recommend you offer a discount on the cost of their stay, however, you might also want to include other facilities and diner if you have restaurants, etc.

In terms of touring and camping sites and facilities, offering a discount on the cost of a nights stay or pitch can bring more customers in and you could offer a greater discount for a longer period, say a standard 10% per night and 15% for three or more nights, etc.

Shops and retail outlets.

If you are a shop or retail business, you could set the discount on specific items or spend levels or structure a higher discount above a specific spend. If you are a hairdressers you could offer the discount on a general basis or for specific items and/or hair products if the customer purchases them from you.

Taxi's.

If you are a taxi company you can set the discount to trigger on journeys above a specific amount and time,i.e. you could offer a higher discount level after 11.00 pm or exclude the discount after that time. The discount you offer is entirely up to you but as stated above, it has to act as an incentive to bring people in.
